The beer selection at H.G.S is a constantly changing, ‘fluid’ selection of imported and microbrew beers from all over the place that we think are especially tasty. Being a small store we can not carry all of them all the time but if there is a beer you like, we will get it, special orders usually take a week to arrive. There are normally around 140 beers in stock at any one time and while there are changes these breweries always have a beer in stock here, we love them dearly and they are a reflection of the variety and scope that we carry.
One of the best and most ubiquitous quality microbrewers in the country, there is not a beer they make we don’t like! Their Pale Ale is a staple and the Torpedo and Porter visit a lot.
This San Fransiscan Brewery is a classic part of the American beer world, one of the first independent breweries to start back up after prohibition, the steam beer is always here.
Andy & Ben make some great beer and are only 3 miles or so from the store. The Pale is the flag ship but we also really like their Brown and Porter too. Fresh and delicious.
A traditional bitter from Yorkshire, the son of the old peculiar brewery who moved out on his own makes some great beer. Not that we condone or recommend it but you could drink this all night long.
This brewing company from Oregon makes some fantastic beer with now preservatives or additives, they do not make a bad beer and seeing what they have come up with for their label is always a thrill.
They talk a big game and actually live up to it very hoppy beer usually, big beers with big taste, Californian if you wondered, Calafornian if you did not.
Fantastic beers from Canada, definitely has a French accent, cultured, malty, very flavorful and often a bit more alcohol, well balanced so that you would never know it until you tried to stand up.
A Belgian Abbey beer, strong richly flavored and a great example of the Abbey style, a good introduction to the style, if you like it we have others to try too.
This Bavarian Pils is a fantastic example of the pils/pilsner/lager style, crisp and fresh.
Robust flavorful beers from Maryland, all 7% to 8% the Pegleg stout is a favorite.
