BLACK SHEEP, Masham Yorkshire.Black Sheep Ale is brewed in Yorkshire and referred to affectionately simply as sheep in the pub, so there is no need for concern if you are in a pub in Yorkshire and someone say’s ‘I’ll have a sheep please’. It is brewed in the traditional way and fermented in the unusual Yorkshire Square system to produce a distinctive robust taste. Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured premium ale with a rich fruity aroma. The bittersweet malty taste is followed by Black Sheep’s uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. Delicious!
Old Speckled Hen
When the factory celebrated its half-century, the brewery made a celebration ale — Old Speckled Hen. It was so popular that it is here to stay. A beer with a complexity of gently pear-like fruitiness and dryish, nutty maltiness. The hop bitterness in the finish is relatively restrained. This is a very refreshing beer, perfect to revive the spirits on a hot day or to cool you down while sitting next to the fire on a rainy or snowy day!
Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale
Called Hop 3 (hop cubed) ale to reflect the enormous amount of hops in this beer: over 3 pounds per barrel! Also the beer is hopped 3 ways - in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped. If you like I.P.A’s you have4 to give this one a go! Distinctive brewery flavor that is with all their beers makes for a very tasty brew. Love the Peg leg stout too! If you are lookig for some other I.P.A’s to compare it to we have a particularly strong field in this category as it is one of our favorites!

120 Minute IPA
If you liked the loose cannon and don’t have much to do of an afternnon then try the Dogfish head 120. Too extreme to be called beer? The 120 Minute I.P.A. is one of the biggest I.P.A.s ever brewed! At 20% abv and 120 ibus you can see why we call this beer THE HOLY GRAIL for hopheads. It is a sipping beer and is sort of like drinking a 6 pack in a bottle but it is amazingly smooth and drinkable for a beer with such a high alcohol content!
McEwan’s Scotch Ale
This is a very distinctive and unique beer that always reminds us of home… McEwans export is not available thankfully! A fantastically fruity and drinkable example of a Scottish Ale. A robust porter, dark brown in color and full bodied with a malty sweet taste. Deep roasted, yet silky smooth! Two types of roasted malts, including deep-roasted chocolate malt, are used to give this porter a rich, chocolaty taste. I.B.U.’s=24; O.G.=15°P
Pilsner Urquell
It’s Called the “model of meter” among beers. All other pilsners are a better or worse attempt to copy the original - the first ever Pilsner Urquell was made in 1842. Beer as we know it has never been the same since with some great copies…. and some not so great copies….
Old Brown DogOld Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the “American Brown Ale” style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped. A very dependable beer for the weekend!
Anchor SteamSan Francisco’s famous Anchor Steam(r), the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. It has a deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavor. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when “steam” seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice.
Magic HatNot quite ordinary pale ale, a hint of apricots, there flagship and an east coast staple for decades.
Murphy’s StoutA classic Irish stout that used the tag line ‘like my murphy’s I’m not bitter’, a smoother stout than the other well known Irish giant.
MauditeIn November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. It contains 8% alcohol and is also the first beer brewed in America that improves with age. When served young, it is very smooth, but when served after several years of storage, its flavour is reminiscent of port. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink. Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas
Samuel Smith’s Tadcaster PorterPorter was the first commercially brewed beer. It was named for the train porters who were its original servers and consumers. Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery, Yorkshire’s oldest, reintroduced authentic porter to the British beer scene in 1979 after an absence of more than 50 years. Very dark, fairly full in body and packed with flavor. Intense, dry tangy character of roasted barley. Serving suggestions: Oysters on the half shell, Rockefeller or Cajun style, clams, mussels, crab cocktail, lobster bisque and other shellfish, smoked mackerel pâté, veal with green peppercorns, porterhouse steak and of course chocolate. Serve at 55 degrees in nonik or tumbler
