Hope Triathlon 2009

The triathlon will be taking place on saturday the 18th of July. Registration begins at 7am at Hobbs Pond and the race begins at 8 am sharp. The course remains the same as last year. Barnestown road has been partially paved and is a vaast improvement over the last few years, so be prepared for some quicker times! Applications are available at the Hope General Store and Bikes and Java begining the 22nd of June, and will also be downloadable from this site on the same Monday. Hatchet Mt. Scramble September 21st at 8am

Start at the Hope Centre Fire Station (junction of 105 and 235) and finish at the top of Hatchet Mountain about a mile or maybe two straight up. $5 entry fee ALL proceeds to the Coastal Mountains Land Trust (because it is their mountain). No shirts, no water stations, no adoring crowds just a great run if you are into that sort of thing. The route starts on a paved road (Rt. 235) and then becomes a rocky, uneven, steep, vegetated trail that zig zags up the side of Hatchet Mt. while giving you a beautiful view. We take no responsabiliy for twisted ankles or injuries, it is a trail run and should be treated as such as a result waivers will be required (just like most races).

 

The winner will get a free sandwich from the Hope General Store.

Triathlon Results are here!

Thank you everybody who volunteered for the triathlon, we could not have done it without you! It was another great event and we had alot of fast times this year particularly the out of state winner who was minutes faster than the previous course record. Well done everybody who competed you make the event what it is. Results are on the triathlon page, thanks again.

Ice Box is Open!

The Ice cream is here with the Ice Box open every day from midday. Roundtop ice cream is what we serve and it is mighty good! Flavors change all the time but right now we have the usuals (Choch,Vanilla, Strawb etc) as well as Eagle Tracks, Tiger Paws and Black Raspberry. If there is no one at the shack when you get there it means they have popped in the store for a second so give us a shout and we will be there!
If it is raining heavily we will probably close too… but that does not mean you can’t get ice cream if you ask in the store!

Tetley’s has arrived!

We are very happy to announce that Tetley’s an ale from Yorkshire is now imported into the State of Maine and is available at the Hope General store as of Thursday. We have been asking various suppliers to carry this beer for some time and it is exciting that it is now available! They are very proud to have a widget in their can’s which provides a very creamy head from the can whis is very close to how it tastes in the pub. The afore mentioned creamy head and a mellow malty flavor make this a distinctive and delicious beer, come and get it!
